Gregory Combs was born in Cheverly, Maryland in June of 1960, the youngest of four sons of Lily and Jerry Combs in suburban Washington, DC. His father was a professor of Nutrition at the University of Maryland, his mother a full-time homemaker. Greg's brothers (a nutritionist, a pilot, and an actor,) provided inspiration to work hard and strive for excellence from earliest childhood.
Gregory Combs graduated from Colorado State University in 1982 with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology, and considered working in environmental sciences, but decided to pursue a career in medicine. At Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, he was exposed to the field of surgery, where he found his niche. Upon graduation from Vanderbilt in 1986, Dr. Combs came to Portland to begin a residency in General Surgery. During surgical training he was most attracted to the finesse, precision, and artistry of plastic surgery. He completed residency training in Plastic Surgery in 1992, and a fellowship in hand and micro-vascular surgery in 1993. Dr. Combs joined Karl O. Wustrack, M.D. in 1993, and began to build his practice with a dedication to quality and integrity.
Dr. Combs lives in West Linn, Oregon with his wife, two daughters, and their Siberian husky. Together they enjoy hiking, camping, running, gardening, reading, listening to music, and watching movies.
Dr. Wustrack was raised in southwest Portland and attended Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at OHSU followed by a plastic surgery fellowship at UCLA.
He returned to the Portland area in 1978 joining Dr. Lloyd Hale in his plastic surgery practice in Oregon City. The two surgeons were one of the first in the Portland area to develop an office surgery suite to give patients the opportunity to undergo cosmetic procedures in the privacy and convenience of a dedicated facility. Dr. Gregory Combs joined the practice in 1993.
In 1999 Dr. Gregory Combs and Dr. Wustrack moved the practice to their new, modern and expanded facility in West Linn where they were able to offer all the safety features of a hospital surgical suite, including general anesthesia, without the hassle or expense of the hospital experience.
Dr. Wustrack has limited his practice to aesthetic, or cosmetic, surgery of the entire body including the face. Procedures such as face lifts, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty and surgery for prominent ears are offered as well as breast augmentation and lift, abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck", and liposuction. Surgery for the massive weight loss patients including the tailoring of arms, legs and thighs is becoming increasingly popular.
Dr. Wustrack tries to take one trip a year to an underserved area of the world to provide reconstructive surgery such as the repair of cleft lip and palate and hand injuries. Most recently he has made several trips to Viet Nam and earlier has worked throughout Latin America as well as Romania and Uzbekistan.
Dr. Wustrack lives in West Linn with his wife, has three adult daughters who live in San Francisco, and his interests outside of plastic surgery include playing masters basketball and building fine furniture.
